Winter Solstice 2022

Check out my self-care list for the season.

It has been COLD this season. Okay okay, I know what you’re probably thinking right now since you know that I am a Florida native but c’mon, these lower 20’s with a windchill has got my beach-baby heart freezing!
I’m already counting down the days until Spring!
In this blog post, I am sharing with you my favorite self-care tips for the winter solstice to help keep your mind and body healthy, including tips for easy dinner options and my top skincare picks!

Depending on where you are in the world, sometimes a walk in the afternoon sunshine is just what you may need for a mood booster.
When the weather is sunny in Florida, I take full advantage of an afternoon walk. I’ll bundle us up in jacket, grab the stroller and walk around our neighborhood with Sophie to check the mail or just to soak up the sun rays.
When Zack is off from work we also love to plan afternoon trips to my hometown St. Augustine to enjoy the local parks and markets.
The St. Augustine Beach Wednesday Farmers Market is my go-to for local artists and delicious freshly brewed local coffee. It is open from 8a-12n every Wednesday at the pier!
* you can find more information about the market HERE.

Benefits from being outside in the sun include:
1. Stress reducer.
2. Helps fight depression.
3. Strengthens your immune system.
4. Uplifts your overall mood.
5. Lowers blood pressure.

Opt for simple dinner options that can be prepared in a crockpot.
Chili, ziti, chicken tacos, loaded mashed potatoes, and hearty dips for bread or spreads (great idea for a quick snack throughout the day since you can keep your crockpot on the β€˜warm’ setting.
One of my family’s favorite toss and go meals for the crockpot is chili.

Check out my simple steps below for a easy dinner idea tonight!

1. Brown your meat or ground turkey on the stovetop (you can try ground chicken too!)

2. Chop a fresh large onion and 2 peppers β€” I typically go for the green and yellow peppers for the color aesthetic.

3. Pour in 2 cans of beans into the crockpot β€” great northern and kidney beans are my fave!

4. Pour in a can of tomatoes and green chilies

5. Season to taste and cook on low for 7-8 hours. Serve with a yummy cornbread loaf!

SKINCARE TOP PICKS

WINTER FAVORITES.

The fragrance-free, lightweight serum from YTTP has been my skin’s holiday grail this season. Packed full of delicious ingredients including organic cactus stems, malachite micronutrients, and superfood antioxidants.
I use it twice a day: morning & night along side my cold pressed strawberry seed facial oil from BYBI.
Did you know that strawberry seed oil can moisturize your skin without clogging pores? It also improves and protects the skin barrier. This is a skincare MUST during the harsh cold months! Those who live where it snows would benefit greatly from this oil.

Another skincare favorite this season has been my body butters from Hempz. They are packed with 100% pure natural hemp seed oil to help keep my skin hydrated and nourished.

My go-to scents:

Pineapple and Mango butter.
This scent pairs perfectly with the Dove Crushed Almond & Mango Butter exfoliating body polish. Reminds me of summer days spent on the beach.
Try the combo and thank me later!

Pomegranate is the perfect pick me up that is lightly scented. I love to carry one of these in my bag while I’m out and about for a quick moisturizer refresh for my arms and hands.
